In the role of a Fairytale Girl and the Princes
My participation in the new play is a great challenge to me. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, and yet I took the challenge because I believe in the Fund’s cause. I believe we can make it popular and raise more funds for the cause. What I like most is the fact that all we do is for a charity goal. In my opinion, in addition to the financial help, we also provide moral support to the children of Give a Hand because we show them that there are people who care and are ready to help.
I have 2 roles in the new play. My fairytale girl is the kindest and most naïve of the three. Her message is that despite the hastiness of our everyday life, our problems and work, we should never forget to be good, to believe in magic, and to dream, because no one can take our dreams away.

In the role of a Fairy Tale Girl
I am part of the travelling theatrical company PROtegni Raka for the third year now. The theatre changed my life and my idea of the world. Busy in our daily life we forget about the little things and how much joy we can bring to the people around us. This emotion cannot be described; instead, everyone can feel it in their hearts. The characters of the play deride the meanness, arrogance, forgetting who we are, because it doesn’t matter how a person looks like on the outside, the beauty of one’s soul is what counts.
Today we can still find the answers to all questions “…which we think about, and which bother us and keep us awake” in fairy tales.
Be good and fair, it will certainly come back to you!

In the role of Ida
Ever since my childhood I have always believed that people are good in their nature. I’ve saved this romantic belief till the present. Sometimes the different life situations we find ourselves at and the environment make us different, but deep inside we remain humans. Being good often means rejecting your own self, overcoming your ego, and personal space. One way to be good is to give out happiness, and that’s what we at PROtegni Raka do.
In the beginning I did not like the role of little Ida. I thought the character was infantile and spoiled – so different from my own idea of a girl… then I realized that actually I was the one who was wrong – I’d lost the child in me, the capacity to dream.
If I’d stopped looking for a way to help others…
if I had given up the Theater or Ida, because she was different…
if I hadn’t dared to break my personal peace and devote from my time…
if I hadn’t chosen to put my own family second…
then none of my childhood dreams would have come true!
Be good and never lose your faith in “the impossible”!

In the roles of the Student and the Tailor
I’d heard many times of all kinds of charity foundations and how someone did something to help people in need, but I had never seen it happening with my own eyes. Such initiatives are always surrounded by a lot of publicity but you never actually understand what happens to the beneficiaries. PROtegni Raka Fund is not promoted in the newspapers and on television and is not a tool of PR activities. Simply everyone helps as much as they can.
I believe Give a Hand is a rope knitted of a great number of thin threads that is capable to provide a tight support and help people in trouble. These are all children in need of protection, warmth and help in life. Even if some of the threads breaks, the other will still hold the sound core so that the rope will never break.

In the role of the Tailor
I have always supported charity. I used to give donations to the people in need in the street, but this never brought any positive effects. Often the money didn’t even reach the people who needed it in full. In addition to that, there is no cause in the street. That is why, i.e. for the cause, I donate to PROtegni Raka. Here there are a clear goal and transparency.
I participate in the new play simply because I find it a good deed in my life. People need to look for good deeds, not to try to avoid them. Every day I do things that are good for me, for my family, for the institution where I work; however doing something good for people whose lives are so different and remote from the comforts of your own life is an opportunity not to miss. I am glad that the bank where I work is the conductor of this idea. The role of the mischievous tailor is very realistic as of today. Yes, life has always been full of cheaters, no matter the epoch. But sometimes the cheating of some people puts at display other people’s qualities that are even worse, in this case the selfishness, stupidity and limited thinking of a kind. The message is clear, if you let such qualities guide you, sooner or later you will find yourself deceived.
What is this tailor like? The character embodies the disappointment of great expectations, the shame and disgrace of a king. I would like the audience to pay attention to the following words: “People, if you let some passion of yours take over you, or if you engage in pampering your own whims, sooner or later you will be very disappointed and you will feel like the whole world is laughing at you. Don’t let your limited thinking and selfishness feed up the existence of deceive!”
PS: I devote this to my dear Clara, who makes so much efforts, so that the cause can succeed, as well as for all other initiatives she’s on. Thank you, Clara! You are a wonderful person!

To me, PROtegni Raka is a tiny star in the sky. The Fund gives a chance to disadvantaged children to get to feel like all others and have the childhood they deserve. Unfortunately we live in a very material world where money define our lives and opportunities. Everyone says “I want to help”, “I want a better life for these children”, but in reality it is not enough to want things, you have to make things happen. PROtegni Raka gives me an opportunity to say “I help” and see the smiles on children’s faces.
People today live in a society that dictates what behavior is right, and rejects you if you choose to be different. Only few are the people who have the guts to express their personal opinion and not be slaves of fear, vanity and stupidity. In fact these are the most sincere people who have eyes for the real things.
The three stories are full of wisdom. My wish is that we will manage to touch the hearts of the audience and make them realize that irrelevant of where we come from, we all are human beings, and we have to be ourselves.

In the role of the Old Mister and the King
As a father myself, I feel the goals of the Fund very close to me. Thinking of how I can be useful to the fund and the fulfilment of its goals, I decided to participate. I know that the funds we raise will help many children. On the other hand, my participation in the theater and the play is a new challenge to me, as I’ve never done acting before.
I have two very different roles, different characters bearing clear messages. The Old Mister is the embodiment of old, stagnant and straightforward. In his mind 2 + 2 always gives 4, full stop. He has long forgotten the childish, naïve, miraculous and innovative. The King, on the other hand, is both a comic and tragic character. On the other hand, he is represented as a lightheaded and superficial person, who believes in everything and everyone guided by his own vanity; on the other hand, he is lonely and miserable in his own way. In this story, one child is the only one who sees the truth that the King is naked. Children with their sincerity can teach adults the lessons of everything they have already forgotten.

In the role of the Gardener and the Minister of Court
The first play of travelling theater PROtegni Raka was great and exciting. At the premier I was one of the interns helping to construct the set. I was watching all the people acting. I saw the play many times and I was secretly dreaming that one day I would be acting myself. And that day came…
I will never forget the first performance. I was behind the stage waiting. One girl came out – just a normal person. I was wandering why she? What was she going to do on the stage? She wasn’t any different from the others. Why not another person going out on the stage? What she had to say to others?
I do not remember the exact words. But she, just a normal girl, wanted to thank everybody for their help. For the more than 15 operations she’d had, and for finally getting a normal life despite the cerebral palsy she had. She was someone who was about to finish high school with dignity and willing to apply for the university to study and then work “in order to be able to help other people in need”.
I will never forget this feeling - hearing someone saying THANK YOU from the heart not really knowing to whom in particular or to how many people. And knowing that you, with a tiny little piece of you helped someone become what he wanted to become – just a normal person. At times like that emotions take over, no matter how “important” one is, what one has seen and done… through your own tear you simply say “Thank you, God, for I can be part of all that”. And the one, who has finally become a “normal” person – she simply said “I would like to help any time someone is in need and I can help.”
I am grateful for having the opportunity to be part of all this magic! I gave a hand to people, you can do the dame! Let’s help a child in need. Let’s bring smiles back where they belong – on children’s faces!!!

In the role of the Aristocrat
I am in the theatric company because I like the cause. If that’s the way to help a sick child, I will devote all my energy to pass the “goodness” to other people. My role in particular shows the people what they should never be like. There are many messages, the strongest of which is the derision of some qualities that are so typical of the people of today – greediness and malice.
Through my acting I would like to tell the people that no bad action was ever left unpunished. With my negative character I will try to show the people the positive and bright side of every one of them.

In the role of the Butler, the Trader, and the Herald
One of my roles in the play is the one of the Trader the embodiment of realism capable to tell the stupidity of masters from the suffering and loyalty of their servants. He is the balance between the two worlds, displaying that one cannot exist without the other.
Very few people can and wish to help with their own efforts to children in need. With our united efforts we can make many children live incredible moments of happiness. Our idea is to promote the fund in many different ways and reach the hearts of many people, thus raising more money for the cause. I was attracted to the idea and the noble cause from the very first performance of The Little Prince.
I was not sure I could cope with the responsibility I was supposed to bear and the commitments I had to make. The project was an absolutely new thing for the bank, and acting bankers was something unheard of. Having observed the success of The Little Prince and how my colleagues were giving out happiness and helping so many children and their parents, I just felt obliged and confident enough that I could make it to join the second play in order to continue this incredible cause.

In the role of the Aristocrat Lady
I like fairy tales. I love Andersen. Naively, but incessantly I believe in the Good that is all around us. We live in a material world, even a mercantile one, where charity is often used as a cliché, and theatre is something obsolete… I don’t want it to be this way! I refuse to accept it!
The Fund and the travelling theatric company Give a Hand are the brightest disclaimer of this reality. That is why I participate. That’s my message and my rebellion!
Andersen once said that he wrote his fairy tales not for the children, but rather for their parents… When you read a bed-time story, the story itself and its lessons will make you a better parent, capable of raising a better child. Childhood is not a matter of age. Andersen’s fairy tales are sad, and often with an unhappy end – just like the stories of the children of PROtegni Raka…
My dear people, this play is a fight, faith and love – for the children of the Fund and their parents, for the spirit, for the magic and wanders, for the bravery to change the world, for the impossible and daring… for your own self! Be part of it!

Sound
If I say now that I’ve always wanted to participate in charity initiatives, I will only repeat the words of many other people. Everyone is more or less full of good intentions, but there usually is a small abyss between intentions and real actions. People tend to leave these things for later in their lives. I had known about PROtegni Raka and its main purpose to raise funds for the treatment of disadvantaged children. My active participation in the initiative started when I joined the technical support team of “The Little Prince”.
Over time and during my participation in all performances all over the country, I realized that the idea of the play touches many people, and makes them sympathize to the Fund’s cause. I felt like I was part of something that mattered.
When I heard we were going to put a new play, I felt really very happy, because it made me believe that what we had already achieved, like our shared ideas of a socially responsible organization, the smiles in the eyes of children we help through the Fund – it would not be left in oblivion like any other sensational event that disappears overnight; it will last, and in very real actions.
The new play touched me, because it puts at display some very acute issues of today – that every day we are killing the spirit of a child living inside us, because we are in a hurry to build the lives of our dreams while actually drifting farther away; about the flattery, vanity, and self-deception, and what they can cause, if left to grow unnoticeably with our silent consent – these are all small issues we encounter but somehow refuse to think about, although we should at some point.

Light
The two-year adventure called “The Little Prince” made me rediscover myself – I’ve learned how colorful and diverse the world was, full of so much happiness and so much sadness. What mattered most was that I could see how the other people were rediscovering their long-forgotten memories, dreams and wishes. For the one-and-a-half hour of the play they moved to a different, magical world. Magical it was, but indeed a reflection of the real one. Every time the curtain was down after a performance and the stage got full of children smiling shyly, meeting and hugging their favorite characters, I thought that there couldn’t be a place on earth any better than this stage in this city.
Life is a journey and people are travelers, discoverers. It is our nature to be curious and inquisitive. We ask questions to get to know the world from the day when we are born. Actually the day of our birth is the starting line of equal chances for each of us. At least it should be in theory.
Unfortunately not everyone is blessed with a start of equal changes with the others. And not everyone is able to get to know and conquer the world the way it should be. This is not fair, especially for a child.
Any support to a sick child, even the smallest one, is priceless. It is charged with fairness, compassion and care. It is so full of meaning. To me, that’s what PROtegni Raka is – a volunteer initiative for a great idea.
The play and the people who make it, we all carry such a strong energy. We want to be of those who change the world and the people’s believes. Show solidarity, be fair, take some of our energy, we give it to you as a present! But please do not keep it for yourself! Give it out to everyone around you in handfuls!
