Dessislava Mircheva is 12 years old, form Pleven. She has congenital myopia, astigmatism. After she had a surgery in Russia in August 2006 the kind needs additional treatment – stimulation of the eyes which will be done in January 2007. at the moment there is such equipment only in Kaluga, Russia but it is expected to be set up here in Bulgaria as well. PROtegni raka has garnted 2,500 BGN for the expenses for the post surgery manipulation.
Hrisitan Hristov is 9 years old and comes form Svishtov. He has a Valvular Heart Disease defect. In July 2005 PROtegni raka granted 960 BGN to cover the expenses for a one-year course of treatment with nutrition products LifePack Junior and Pax which consist of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and various herbs. On 07.09.2006 he had a surgery at the Pediatric Hospital “Bambino Gesu” in Italy, Cardiologic clinic. The full stay, the transportation expenses and the cost of the surgery were paid by the Catholic Church. This year we once again provided a grant in the amount of 960 BGN for Kristian for a one-year-long course of treatment with nutrition additives LifePack Junion and Pax.
Stephanie Ilieva was born in 2002 in the town of Samokov. She has Cerebral Palsy and is treated at “Saint Sofia” hospital in Sofia. The fund has granted the amount of 2,120 BGN for Botulinum Toxin and rehabilitation so far. This month we will once again help Stephanie providing a grant of 370 BGN for some of the forthcoming procedures: individual speech therapist help, reflection physiotherapy, individual Montessori therapy and electro stimulations.
Stilian Dimitrov is 7 years old, from Stara Zagora, and suffers from non-syndromal autism. He has speach disorder and lacks the ability to concentrate his mind. During the day the kid visits a specialized kindergarden, where the employed speech therapist does not pay him the necessary attention and time. The parents borrow money from acquaintances and take him to see a speech therapist at the specialized clinic in Stara Zagora – Saint Stilian Child caregiver. PROtegni raka provides the following grant for Stilian: 200 BGN per month for a period of 6 months for nutrition additives and 80 BGN per month for the speech therapist sessions at the specialized clinic in Stara Zagora – Saint Stilian Child caregiver. For a period of 12 months.
Simona Vassileva Kazakova is 6 years old. She was born in Burgas and lives in the village of Lozovo. The girl was born with Asthenia. Until her second month of age she was is good health – she had neither increased sleepiness nor overagitation. Later on it was found out she had Cerebral Palsy. She cannot talk, sit by herself or move. A year ago the parents of Simona found out about the opportunity for transplantation of stem sells in a clinic in Russia which might ead to significant improvement of the condition of Simona. Her parents started collecting funds after they got a confirmation by the clinic this surgery can be performed on their kid. PROtegni raka committed itself to providing the amount of 2,500 BGN for the surgery.
Sabin Jurukov was born in 1997. He has multiple malformations and the Mobius Syndrome. This syndrome is not very well known and studied. It causes damage to many organs, mainly the eyes. At present the sight of Sabin is less than 10 %, he is a disabled person with companion. PROtegni raka will grant 1,100 BGN for surgery treatment of strabismus and purchase of glasses (it is not clear yet what kind of glasses and from where, we are going to know after the durgery).
Pamela Frozeva is 3 years old and lives in Burgas. She has Cerebral Palsy – severe Spastic Quadriparesis. As a result from the disease Pamela has troubles moving. At present she can sit alone, but cannot stand up and move independently. Ever since her birth Pamela has undergone rehabilitation and in March she was made the first Botulinum Toxin A injection. As a result form the injection and the rehabilitation Pamelas condition improved. PROtegni raka approved a grant in the amount of 800 BGN which is needed for the next injection.
Krassen Minchev is 8 years old from Veliko Turnovo. The kid has poor nerves of the right eye and has 50 % working capacity. Krasen Minchev has been treated in a specialized hospital in Kaluga, Russia since April 2006. He has visited the hospital twice and there is going to be a third treatment course. The grant provided by PROtegni raka is in the amount of 1,300 USD for medical treatment at the specialized hospital in Kaluga, Russia and 420 USD for a companion during the treatment.
Darina Pencheva was born in 2003 in Varna. She is three years old and she used to have a stable and clinically normal development. On 6th October 2006 she was taken to the hospital with high temperature which lasted a few days, suffering from pain and stiff right shoulder. The doctors found out she had Acute Myelogenuos (Non-lymphocytic) Leukemia. She needs 300,000 EUR for a surgery for transplantation of stem cells which has to be made in France. The State would provide 1/3 of the cost of the surgery, i.e. 100,000 EUR, if the rest of the money is collected. PROtegni raka is going to issue a written certificate that a grant of 2,500 BGN will be provided if the rest of the money is collected.
The Orphanage "Al.G. – Kodjakafaliata" – the city of Burgas. There are 103 kids there from 7 to 19 years of age. In November 2006 there was a test for intestinal vermin it turned out that 25 % of the kinds had Enterobius vermicularis. PROtegni raka will provide the amount of 200 BGN for purchase of Vermox pills.
Konstantin Nikolov is six months old, form Veliko Turnovo. He has congenital Hydrocephalus, a brain disease. There is just one treatment – insertion of a VP-shunt. PROtegni raka will help the little Konstantin by granting 2,500 BGN for the purchase of the shunt.
Tsvetomira Nikolova was born in Nova Zagora in 2003 and she has Cerebral Palsy. The total amount of 1,908 BGN was disbursed for 6 treatment courses for a year and 738 BGN for Botulinum toxin A.
Yana Vassileva was born in 2005 in Varna. When she was a year and four months old the doctors found out she had Persistent Hyperinsulinemia of infancy – a disease opposite to the diabetes. He Fund granted the child the amount of 1,840 BGN for a year as 460 BGN are going to be used for the first 3 months of the treatment.
